Giorgio Armani is a designer who perfectly understands the elements of menswear. Each season he reinterprets his signature silhouette combining relaxed tailoring with classic Italian sportswear and knitwear, always with refined elegant touches and forward-looking fabric developments. There is also something elemental about the colours and fabrics of his timeless designs for Spring-Summer 2012. Tailoring and separates crafted from specially treated materials in watery blues have a fluid feel. These are juxtaposed with jackets and trousers in every shade of grey, some with the matte finish of time-worn rock, others with the shine of finely polished minerals. Earthy brown leathers and flesh-like tones complete the palette.
For this tribute to the iconic Armani Man, he is envisioned as a mythological ideal of masculinity born of the elements. Raised from the water, he sets foot on the earth and falls in love with fire, whose heat and passion persuades him not to return to the water, but instead to be transformed into rock…

Featuring their Spring/Summer 2012 Matt Silk Collection, the ‘50’s esque composition of the film played upon that ironic jealousy between mother and daughter. With details such as the classic car, Italian scenery, vintage music and fresh produce, Finotti applies classic filmic traits of a fifties Italian comedy to the beautiful montage.
